Andy's teaching

I teach Ashtanga Yoga, an approach developed in Mysore, India

What is Ashtanga Yoga?

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a powerful yet subtle yoga that synchronises breath with movement to slowly unveil not only the strength, flexibility and vitality of the physical body but also, over time, the rediscovery of the practitioners fullest potential on all levels of human consciousness, control of the senses and a deep awareness of their selves.

Ashtanga Yoga is a method for personal change on the physical and dynamic breath flow practice. The key component of this method is the synchronising of breath and movement, with postures linked together by flowing movements. Working with breath and movement in this way enables the achievement of a state of moving meditation, whilst the internal heat generated as part of this practice works to open and detoxify the body. Ashtanga Yoga therefore provides benefits in terms of relaxation, stress reduction and concentration as well as the physical health benefits of improved flexibility, strength and detoxification.
